Frequently Asked Influcid® FAQ's

Products

Does Influcid® attack viruses? How does it work?

  • In experimental studies with cells, a direct anti-viral effect to Influcid® on several flu virus strains was proven. Current studies show that Influcid® enhances the cells' resistance to harmful effects of the new virus strain causing swine flu (A/ H1N1).

What side-effects are to be expected under treatment with Influcid®?

  • Influcid® is a very well tolerated homeopathic medicinal product. In isolated cases hypersensitive reactions, such as gastro-intestinal complaints, or skin reactions are possible.

Is Influcid® suitable for prevention?

  • Yes, also in particular for prevention of getting sick after contact with a diseased person. This could be confirmed in studies.

When should I take Influcid® oral drops and when tablets?

  • Children below the age of 12 years should not take the drops, since contain alcohol. They should be administered tablets.
Adults and children older than 12 years are free to choose their preferred pharmaceutical form.

How does Influcid® affect the body's own defence mechanisms?

  • Homeopathic medicinal products stimulate the self-healing powers and thus activate and strengthen the body's own immune system.

Common Cold

How can I know that I am sick with a cold and not with flu?

  • The symptoms of colds usually build up slowly and tend to be mild: No fever or only mild fever (usually below 39 °C) is associated with inflammatory processes of the upper respiratory tract, such as a runny or blocked nose, sore throat and dry cough.
The onset of flu is usually sudden and intense, usually associated with high fever, severe malaise, intense head and muscle pain and coughing, often associated with chest pain and difficulty to breathe.

Is it possible that a common cold worsens and turns into a flu infection?

  • A cold usually completely subsides within one to two weeks. Sometimes bacterial super-infections may cause, for instance, tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media, or pneumonia. The elderly, children or people with a lowered immunity are at a higher risk of suffering super-infections.
Flu and common colds are two distinct diseases caused by different virus strains. They cannot merge. Both diseases may show very similar symptoms and course, but they usually differ in infectiousness and intensity of the symptoms.

Can I go to work while suffering from a common cold?

  • If your temperature is normal and symptoms are tolerable, you can go to work with a cold. It is important to practice hygiene measures to reduce the spread of the disease.

If I am sick, how can I avoid spreading the disease to others, or how can I avoid being infected by others?

  • Colds spread by droplet infection (airborne droplets – speaking, sneezing, coughing) or by direct contact (shaking hands etc.).
A few simple personal hygiene measures help to minimise the risk of infection: Clean your hands thoroughly and regularly (especially after having had contact with potentially contaminated material or sick persons), sneeze or cough into your bended elbow, use disposable tissues for blowing your nose and make sure to dispose of them properly after use, reduce direct contact to others, e.g. shaking hands, hugs etc., and air rooms regularly.

What's the advantage of Influcid® in the treatment of a cold?

  • Influcid®, as a combination medicine, covers a broad symptom spectrum, thus alleviating the diverse complaints of feverish colds efficiently already in the initial phase.
Influcid® stimulates the body's self-healing powers and alleviates existing complaints in a mild way with practically no side-effects.
Influcid® is available in the form of drops, or tablets - so everybody can choose the appropriate or preferred pharmaceutical form.

Flu

What are the first symptoms of flu I can notice, indicating clearly it is flu and not a common cold?

  • The symptoms of colds usually build up slowly and tend to be mild: No fever or only mild fever (usually below 39 °C) is associated with inflammatory processes of the upper respiratory tract, such as a runny or blocked nose, sore throat and dry cough.

What are the risks, in case the flu infection subsides only slowly?

  • The intensity and duration of the disease may weaken the immune system seriously and thus increase the risk of secondary bacterial infections.
Particularly elderly people with underlying diseases (e.g. chronic lung and heart diseases, metabolic diseases), immuno-suppressed people and children are at high risk of flu itself, as well as of possible complications.

If I am sick, how can I avoid spreading the disease to others or how can I avoid being infected by others?

  • Flu spreads in much the same way as colds: by droplet infection (airborne droplets – speaking, sneezing, coughing) or by direct contact (shaking hands etc.).

What is the advantage of Influcid® in the treatment of flu?

  • Influcid® covers a broad symptom spectrum alleviating the diverse complaints of flu efficiently already in the initial phase.

When do I have to see a doctor?

  • If fever persists for more than 3 days or rises above 39 °C, or if complaints are unclear or persist, please consult a doctor, as diseases requiring medical clarification might be involved.

Children

Why do flu-like infections or flu affect children more often than adults?

  • As a child's immune system has not yet fully built up, children are more often affected by flu-like infections or flu - up to 8 times per year on average

Influcid® – a preventive against common colds and flu?

  • Influcid®, as a well-proven combination of single remedies, strengthens the body's own defence forces.
For detailed information on indications and dosage, please refer to the Patient Information Leaflet enclosed in the package, or to your doctor or pharmacist (in your country).

Why are homeopathic medicinal products, such as Influcid®, the better alternative to conventional allopathic medicinal products?

  • Homeopathic medicinal products stimulate the self-healing powers of the organism and thus alleviate existing complaints in a mild way with practically no side-effects. Due to the specific manufacturing methods, the starting materials for homeopathic medicinal products are diluted to such an extent in the final product that material-induced side-effects, as associated with allopathic preparations, are not to be expected.
Homeopathic complex preparations have been successfully used for decades in many indications and are very well tolerated, due to their proven combination of single remedies.

What will happen, if I forget to administer the homeopathic medicinal product during treatment?

  • A forgotten dose will not cause any harm. But do not try to make up for the forgotten dose by doubling the following dose. Continue treatment with Influcid® as before.
