Tonsilotren® - Tonsillitis

Tonsillopharyngitis – ever heard of?

The tonsils participate in systemic immune surveillance – they assist the body in its defence against viruses and bacteria entering the body via the mouth.

Viral and bacterial agents causing infections of the tonsils or the pharynx are easily spread from one person to another by saliva or nasal secretions of an infected person via airborne droplets and close contacts.

Physicians often talk about “tonsillopharyngitis” when they diagnose an inflamed redness of the throat/pharynx. This diagnosis includes both, the inflammation of the tonsils (tonsillitis) and the inflammation of the pharynx (pharyngitis) which often occurs at the same time.

Regarding local symptoms, pain or difficulties swallowing are key symptoms of tonsillitis! Very young children who are not able to complain of sore throat often refuse to eat.

Acute Tonsillitis - Symptoms

Tonsilotren® - Acute Tonsillitis

Tonsils are oval-shaped masses on both sides of the back of the throat composed of tissue that is similar to lymph nodes. They participate in the systemic immune surveillance and are thought to assist the body in its defence against viruses and bacteria entering the body. Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils most often caused by a viral infection of the tonsils occurring in all age groups. Key symptoms of acute tonsillitis are pain or difficulties swallowing. Possible general symptoms of acute tonsillitis include a rise in body temperature, pain in limbs and muscles, loss of appetite and a general feeling of malaise. 2) Use of common treatment measures, for example: gargling with warm salt water, throat compresses and ultrasound. Resting and avoiding physical exertion are also reasonable conservative measures

Chronic Tonsillitis - Symptoms

Tonsilotren® - Chronic Tonsillitis

Chronic tonsillitis is a common disorder characterized by a persistent inflammation of the tonsils. Although the symptoms of chronic tonsillitis are usually not serious, the persistent presence of a chronic infection in the tonsils is thought as a source of chronic intoxication of the whole body. The persistent production and presence of inflammatory products are thought to play a key role in the development of symptoms like fatigue.

Patients who are suffering from chronic tonsillitis frequently show the following symptoms:
